This is probably because it is based on factual events, and because Bruce Lee took much more of a hands on approach than the previous outing (Big Boss), although this movie re-unites many actors from that movie. The Plot revolves around Fok Yun Gap a turn of the century Kung fu master in Shanghai, (under Japanese occupation) who is murdered, and avenged by his top student Chen (Bruce Lee). The inclusion of Bruce Lee's Hong Kong bodyguard Robert Baker (as a Russian heavy) gives the movie an international appeal. The real added extra is the addition of Bruce Lee's signature wepon the Nunchuka, (rice flail - chain stick) which catapulted Bruce Lee to cult status across the globe.
